Bourgas is a city in South-Eastern Bulgaria, a municipal center, as well as the largest in territory (7748,1 sq. m.) province in Bulgaria. It is an important economic, cultural, and administrative center in the southern part of the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. With its 210 000 citizens, the city of Bourgas ranks fourth in population in the country, after Sofia, Plovdiv and Varna. It is a home for many renowned Bulgarian poets, composers, singers, artists, etcetera.

The city has many parks and gardens. Numerous musical festivals are organized in Bourgas, including various international cultural festivals. Bourgas hosts one of the busiest international airports in the country. The port of Bourgas has the biggest cargo turnover in Bulgaria. The city is a main tourist destination in the southern part of the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. There are several large resorts located close to the city, some of which have retained the traditional spirit of the centuries.
